10/06: Kopenhagen

Da sitze ich nun... in Kopenhagen am Flughafen. Der Flug war ausgezeichnet, allerdings bin ich endlos traurig, daß ich das alles hinter mir lassen mußte. Die zweieinhalb Monate waren viel intensiver als das fast halbe Jahr davor. Meine Pläne für die Zukunft habe ich jedenfalls schon geschmiedet: schnell Diplom machen und dann zurück.

09/28: T minus 2 Tage

Der Countdown laeuft - leider. Ich bleibe weiterhin dabei, dass ich hier nicht weg moechte. Ich muss mich wohl irgendwo anketten und auf meine Ausweisung durch das Department of Homeland Security harren.

09/14: Griesgraemig

Danke Fachhochschule Nuernberg. Danke, dass der Zettel der vom Beginn der Einschreibungen fuer die Wahlpflichtfaecher kuendet irgendwo im dritten Stock im B-Bau haengt - das nuetzt mir leider reichlich wenig. Jetzt hock ich da, 2 Tage nach dem Startschuss und hab gerade noch 5 Moeglichkeiten Wahlpflichtfaecher zu waehlen. Saemtliche halbwegs interessanten sind natuerlich schon restlos belegt, wer haette das gedacht. Den letzten beissen ja bekanntermassen die Hunde und ich hab gerade das Gefuehl, ich haette ein ganzes Rudel an der Wade haengen. Am liebsten wuerde ich eh hier bleiben und gar nicht mehr zurueck, nie mehr. Das Visum wuerde schon irgendwie klargehen, in meiner neuen Wohnung fuehle ich mich absolut heimisch, die Arbeit passt auch und gefuehlsmaessig ist bei mir eher Fruehling denn Spaetsommer. Wie waren noch gleich die Vorraussetzungen fuer Urlaubssemester...?

09/12: Happy Birthday

Heute war mein erster Geburtstag, an dem ich arbeiten mußte. Gezwungenermaßen mußte ich vor der Arbeit auf der Upper East Side herumkurven und Flyer für eine öffentliche Anhörung eines unserer Projekte an Laternenmasten kleben. Als ich dann in die Firma kam wurde ich dann mit Glückwünschen überhäuft und meine Kollegen haben mir heimlich in der Mittagspausen einen kleinen Kuchen besorgt, der so lecker war... hmmmmmmm... :) Nach der Arbeit sind wir dann ins Odeon am West Broadway gegangen und haben geschlemmt und den einen oder anderen Cocktail zu uns genommen.

09/11: Fünf Jahre nach den Anschlägen vom 11. September

Es war sehr ergreifend, als die Namen der Opfer vom 11. September vorgetragen wurden. Unterbrochen wurde die Zeremonie von Glockenläuten und je einer Schweigeminute zu den Zeitpunkten der Einschläge der beiden Flugzeuge und des Einstürzens der Türme.

Ernesto ist endlich an uns vorbei gezogen. Hier sind sie also, die versprochenen Photos von meiner neuen Bleibe in Brooklyn.

09/02: Der Karavane zieht weiter

Der Großstadt-Nomade hat ein weiteres Mal seine Koffer gepackt und ist von der Upper East Side hinunter nach Cobble Hill in Brooklyn gezogen. Die Gegend ist hier das Beste, was ich bisher erlebt habe. Ein Gourmet Deli, das seinen Namen ausnahmsweise wirklich verdient, ist direkt gegenüber, die ganze Straße ist voll mit kleinen Läden, Starbucks, CVS, Eckerd - alles da. Die Parallelstraße ist vollgepackt mit Kneipen, Bars und Clubs und alle wichtigen Subway-Linien sind nur wenige Blocks entfernt. Noch dazu sind meine Mitbewohner absolut locker und gut drauf. Photos gibt es sobald Ernesto an uns vorbei gezogen ist.

08/27: Flugkilometer

Heute habe ich durch Zufall eine Webseite gefunden, die einem die Distanz zwischen zwei Flughäfen anzeigt. Ich habe mir den Spaß erlaubt, meine bisherigen und zukünftigen Flugreisen meiner Aufenthalte in Amerika zu addieren... :)
